Whether you’re a writer or an avid reader, you can always appreciate a good book. There is something about particular writing styles that draws us in and makes us forget reality for a while. Only a few authors have had the ability to keep me reading regardless of what was going on around me. I’ve created a list of my favorites.
- Maya Angelou
I can never get enough of her poems. She had such a way with words and carried the gift of making me gravitate to her writing style. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is one of my favorite books of all time.
- Stephenie Meyer
What can I say, except that I am a huge Twilight fan. I love her writing style and the way her books made me feel. Each book in the series was written in such a way that people all over the world were hooked and couldn’t put them down until they were done reading.
- Charlotte Brontë
Jane Eyre is one of my favorite novels, so naturally I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Charlotte Brontë as an amazing author. She brilliantly wrote great books and poems until her untimely death, and I still enjoy reading a lot of her work today.
- Ernest Hemingway
I feel that Hemingway is everything an aspiring writer wants to be or should aspire to be. This novelist and short story writer published groundbreaking stories that earned him a Nobel Prize in Literature. I love that a lot of his writing came from his own life experiences. He was able to channel what he went through into his writing in such an extraordinary way. For Whom the Bell Tolls is my favorite story of his.
- Edgar Allen Poe
It’s hard to explain how much his writing style pulled me in. I read quite a bit of his work and I have to say my favorite poem is The Raven. I remember the first time I read A Tell-Tale Heart; my own heart was beating fast because I so was excited to see what was going to happen. His writing was amazing and so easy to read. He is hands down my favorite author.
