We’ve all heard the phrase, “behind every good man is a good woman.” Power couples make the movies even more exciting to watch and their love is always a whirlwind of romance. Who are these great couples you ask? Check out my list.
- Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’ Hara, GONE WITH THE WIND
Rhett and Scarlett were everything a couple should be. Her strong-willed and sassy attitude mixed with his straightforward comedic candor make them awesome together. He seems to be the only man alive who can really understand her and knows what she wants. They are a perfect match. It’s just too bad Scarlett doesn’t figure that out until it’s too late.
- Johnny and Baby, DIRTY DANCING
When Baby visits a summer resort with her family, she immediately has a connection with Johnny, the head of the entertainment department. She learns of his dirty dancing skills , and he starts to give her lessons. Even though there are a few bumps in the road for them, they still become a great dancing team and fall in love.
- Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, BREAKING DAWN 2
Now that Bella’s a powerful vampire, she and Edward are a force to be reckoned with. She can block anything in her radius and he can read minds like nobody’s business. They’ll be outsmarting the Volturi for centuries to come.
- Bonnie and Clyde, BONNIE and CLYDE
They may be one of the most dangerous power couples out there. Bonnie is bored with her normal life until she meets delinquent Clyde, and suddenly she realizes she’d rather live life dangerously than go back to normalcy. Unfortunately for them, their choices cost them their lives, but one can never deny that they were good together.
- Princess Ann and Joe Bradley, ROMAN HOLIDAY
Tired of her daily princess responsibilities, Ann freaks out at a press conference and is given a sedative to calm down. She ends up on a park bench where she is found by a reporter. He takes her to his place and eventually discovers she’s a real princess. He wants to get an exclusive and she just wants to have a normal life for a while. They end up spending the day together in Rome and have the time of their lives.
- Edward and Vivian, PRETTY WOMAN
When millionaire Edward accidentally meets prostitute Vivian, he becomes captivated by her beauty and pays her to spend the week with him. She gets a taste of a normal life, and they fall in love. When it’s time to go back to their regular lives, they realize that they can’t be without each other and suddenly the sky is the limit.
- Carrie and Big, SEX and the CITY
It’s as if the stars aligned and made way for Carrie and Big to finally be together and live happily ever after. Carrie certainly had to kiss a few frogs, and there were some major roadblocks in their way. But they persevere and find a way to make their relationship work, which is why they are my number one pick for power couples.
