Top 5 Revenge Movies

Whether you watch your movies in the theater or in the privacy of your own home, that euphoric and explosive feeling you get when the bad guy is taken down will always be the same. There is no greater feeling than a great revenge movie where some poor soul was done horribly wrong only for them to take matters into their own hands and kick ass. Check out my top five revenge movies. Spoilers abound!

call

   5. THE CALL

It starts with Jordan; a 9-1-1 operator who is dealing with the aftermath of calling a victim back after the call is disconnected. It ultimately leads to the victim’s death and she’s been blaming herself ever since. When she receives a call from another kidnapped victim she does everything she can to find her before it’s too late, especially after learning it’s the same guy who killed the other caller. She finally catches up to them and helps the victim escape, but not before tying up the murderer and informing him that he will be left to die in his homemade bunker. I can’t express how good I felt after watching this.

Iron

  1. THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK

King Louie XIV is a force to be reckoned with. He made the poor live on rotten food, killed a love interest’s fiancé, and that’s only a few of the things this narcissistic guy did. Of course worst of all, is that he kept his twin brother, Philippe locked away with an iron mask so that no one would know his true identity. The treacherous things King Louie did were stifled when Philippe was rescued by the three musketeers and groomed to be the best King of France. In the end, Louie XIV was doomed to wear the mask and his brother ruled for the rest of his days.

Monte

  1. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO

Edmond Dantè’s might have the worst luck ever. This merchant sailor wanted to return home and marry his fiancée, but instead he made a bad decision, erroneously entrusting people within his circle. He was doomed to spend life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. After fourteen years of imprisonment, he learned a lot from a fellow prisoner and was given a second chance by escaping. He found gold, bought an island, and became one of the wealthiest men around. His riches allowed him to go back home and seek revenge on all of those who wronged him, and to take back control of his life.

Taken

  1. TAKEN

When Bryan’s daughter Kim desperately wants to go to Paris with a friend, he reluctantly agrees and implores her to keep in contact while she’s there. Upon Kim’s arrival, Bryan learns that she is taken by an Albanian sex trafficking ring. With a CIA background, he uses his skills and goes through great lengths to find her by any means necessary. He takes down most of the affiliates involved one by one until he finds her. I loved watching the kidnappers get what was coming to them, making this one of the best feel good movies of all time.

KillBill

  1. KILL BILL VOLUMES 1 AND 2

Movies 1 and 2 are equally awesome. Beatrix is a part of a deadly assassination gang that turns their back on her because the leader, Bill, who happens to be her ex-boyfriend, orders her death. Even though she is pregnant with his child, they beat her and shoot her in the head. But her will to stay alive permits her to heal and get revenge on all of those who wronged her, including Bill who gets the ultimate death by the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. When you can practically come back from the dead and get revenge on everyone who ever hurt you, you deserve to be number one on the list!
