Romance movies have a way of making us wish our lives would play out that way. I mean, what girl wouldn’t want flowers and candy every day followed by a foot rub? We know our lives aren’t that perfect no matter how much we strive to be like the actors in the movies. But nonetheless, they are so much fun to watch to help us imagine a world of happily ever after. Here’s my list of top 5 romance movies!
- THE NOTEBOOK
I loved Noah and Allie’s love—two people coming from different backgrounds falling in love with each other under the hot summer sun. What I liked most is that their relationship was so relatable. Their arguments and disagreements seemed to make them stronger. When her family insisted she leave and go to college in another state, they were torn apart. Both equally heartbroken, they found ways to live their lives. Noah wrote her every day for a year and Allie always had Noah in the back of her mind until one fateful day when they were reunited and remained to together forever.
- THE HOLIDAY
A friend recommended this movie to me, and I am so glad she did. It’s about two heartbroken women from different worlds who switch houses over the Christmas holiday in order to escape their current situations. While on vacation from their homes, they both find love in the most romantic way and end up having the best holiday of their lives.
- LETTERS TO JULIET
When an aspiring writer, Sophie, and her very busy chef fiancé, Victor, go on an early honeymoon to Verona, Italy, she finds herself alone most of the time until she stumbles upon a courtyard where women write to “Juliet” for answers about their love life. She joins the group of women who answer the letters and ends up answering a letter that was written fifty years ago. The woman who wrote the letter finds her and thanks her whilst planning to find her long lost love. Sophie joins the woman and her grandson on their journey and ends up finding love of her own.
- SAVE THE LAST DANCE
A ballet dancer named Sara is devastated after her mom dies in a fatal car accident. She gives up dancing and has to live with her dad in a not-so-safe part of town in Chicago. When she enters a new school, she meets Derek, a guy who happens to be a great hip hop dancer. They become great friends, and he teaches her to dance with more rhythm so that she can get into Juilliard. They are so cute together as they dance their way into each other’s arms.
Hands down the best romantic movie of all time! Jack and Rose fall in love on the Titanic, and even though we all know the tragic end, their story is inspiring. She is rich, and he is poor, yet that doesn’t matter because they are meant to spend every last moment with each other. I loved how from the very beginning Jack made it his mission to be there for Rose until his last breath.
