Paying homage

So, this entire month I’ll be paying homage to my favorite writers. Maya Angelou’s Poem, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, is one that I love.

I can relate to this poem because as a writer, it is hard at times to feel the freedom to write what you want because you never know how others will take it or if your work is relatable. We often have to put our blinders on and write what’s in our hearts whether it’s received well or not. There is so much freedom in writing but being told what to write can make us feel caged.
